Prophecies: Persia and Greece
10 Suddenly, a hand touched me made me tremble on my knees and the palms of my hands. 11 He said to me, “Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words I speak to you and stand upright, I am sent to you.” While speaking word to me I stood trembling. 12 Then he said, “Do not fear, Daniel, from the first day you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; I have come because of your words. 13 Prince of kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and Michael chief prince came to help me fight kings of Persia. 14 I come to help you understand things to happen to your people in latter days, for vision refers to future days to come.” 15 When he spoke words to me, I turned my face toward ground speechless. 16 Suddenly, one having the likeness of sons of men touched my lips; I opened my mouth and spoke, to him who stood before me, “My lord, because of vision my sorrows overwhelms me so I retain no strength. 17How can the servant of my LORD talk with me my lord if no strength remains in me or breath left in me.” So 18 again, one having likeness of man touched me to strengthen me. 19 And said, “O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you be strong. As he spoke to me I was strengthened and I said, “Let my lord speak as you strengthen me.” 20 He said, “Do you know why I come to you? I must return to fight with the prince of Persia when I go prince of Greece will come. 21 I tell you in Scripture by Truth uphold me against them is Michael your prince. 11 In first year of Darius, Mede I, to confirm and strengthen him 2 I tell you the truth three more kings to arise in Persia a fourth far richer than them all; by his strength, through riches stirs up all against realm of Greece. 3 Then a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion do according to his will. 4 And his kingdom shall be broken up and divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not among his posterity or to his dominion ruled; his kingdom shall be uprooted for others beside him.
War Kings of North and South
5 The king of the South a strong prince gains power over him and his dominion shall be a great dominion. 6 Join forces, with daughter of king of the South go to king of North make agreement to retain power of her authority, neither he or his authority shall stand is given up to those who brought her to strengthen her in those times. 7 A branch of her roots shall arise in his place, shall come with army, to enter fortress of king of the North to deal with them to prevail. 8 And he shall carry their gods captive to Egypt their prince, silver, gold; and continue more years than king of the North.9 And king of the North shall come to kingdom of the king of the South but return to his own land. 10 His sons shall stir up strife, assemble multitude of great forces; and one shall come to overwhelm and pass through to return to his fortress and stir up strife. 11 “The king of the South shall be moved with rage and go out to fight with him with the king of the North to muster great multitude given into the hand of his enemy. 12 When taken away his multitude his heart will be lifted up and cast down tens of thousands, but he will not prevail. 13 King of North return musters multitude greater than former, come at the end of years with his great army and equipment. 14 In those times many will rise up against king of South as violent men, your people shall exalt themselves in fulfillment of the vision, but shall fall. 15 The king of the North comes to build siege takes fortified city, forces of South not withstanding king his choice troops of no strength to resist. 16 But he who comes against him will do as he wills none stands against him. He shall stand in the Glorious Land with a destruction in his power.17 “He sets his face to enter with strength of his whole kingdom with him gives him daughter of women to destroy but not stand with him or be for him. 18 After this turn his face to the coastlands and take many. A ruler shall bring reproach against them to an end; and with reproach removed he shall turn back on him. 19 Shall turn his face to fortress of his own land but shall stumble and fall, and not be found. 20 “There will arise in his place one who imposes taxes on the glorious kingdom; but in a few days destroyed not in anger or battle.21 In his place shall arise a vile person not give honour to royalty come in peace and seize kingdom by intrigue. 22 With force of flood swept away from before him and broken prince covenant. 23 After league made act deceitful come up strong with a small number of people 24 He shall enter peaceably into richest places of provinces do what his fathers have not done or forefathers, disperse plunder, spoil, riches, devise his plans against strongholds only for a time. He 25 shall stir up his power and courage against king of the South with a great army. The king of South stir up to battle with very great and mighty army shall not stand for they devise plans against him. 26 Those who eat of his delicacies destroy him; his army swept away, and many shall fall down slain. 27 The king’s heart bent on evil speak lies at the same table but shall not prosper, for the end will be at the appointed time. 28 While returning to his land with great riches, his heart moved against holy covenant does damage but return to his own land.
Northern King’s Blasphemies
29 “At appointed time returns toward south not like former or latter. 30 Ships from Cyprus come against him grieved, return in rage against the holy covenant and do damage. He returns to show no regard for all who keep holy covenant. 31Forces mustered by him will defile sanctuary fortress; take away the daily sacrifices, and place his abomination of desolation. 32 The wicked against God’s covenant he corrupts with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong and do great exploits. 33 Those people who understand instruct many; for many days fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering. 34 When they fall with little help many join them by intrigue. 35 Those of understanding refine and purify to make them white, until appointed time. 36 “The king does according to his will exalt himself above God speak blasphemies against God and prosper till wrath is accomplished 37 He regards not God of his fathers or desire women or regard God exalts himself above all.38 In HIS place honour god of fortresses; gold, silver, precious stones pleasant things.39Against strong fortress advance his glory causes them to rule over many divides the land for his gain.
