In the Bible in the book of James 5:1-6, God warns and challenges rich oppressors by saying, now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6 You condemn and murder the innocent one who was not opposing you. Although the Bible nowhere condemns wealth which is the blessing of God in Proverbs 10:22, the root of all evil is the love of money which deprives others to enrich a few greedy selfish people. The love of money is the root of all evil. The rich social class often guilty of exploiting and oppressing the poor ignore the challenges of workers. They deliberately remove dignity of people using money and wealth as a weapon of control. God reserves severe judgement for this in Luke 6:24. god is deeply concerned that the abundant resources He generously Provided are misused to make God look like He discriminates in giving resources to all His creation. Earthly treasures are subject to decay, eventually perish so God warns not to put confidence in it above sharing with others. James echoes teaching of Jesus in Matthew 6:20. Zero hours cunning plan strategy puts a lot of workers on hold without active work or pay which inconveniences them from seeking other jobs. They continue to be on phantom ghost payroll for emergency requirement of employers. Yet have daily needs of food, paying rents, bills and taxes yet without income. This is violation of the law of God. Wages are to be paid fairly on time in Leviticus 19:13; Deuteronomy 24:14, 15. Rich oppressors fatten themselves and indulge unaware of the disaster of God’s judgement awaiting them. The unjust use money as instrument of power to control so often causes death of innocent people. The verse understood figuratively means to rob people of their wages and livelihood is to commit a kind of murder against them. James the apostle denounces the injustice of the rich. So warns and reminds them of the judgements of God upon those rich men who oppress the poor. Then showing them how great their sin and folly are in the sight of God the grievous punishments which should fall upon them in James 5:1-6. The saddest part of the problem of rich oppressors is that they will not take wealth into eternity but suffer eternal punishment unless they repent. In Malachi 2:17 God warns He is wearied words of those who say, “How have we wearied Him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord and He is pleased with them or Where is the God of justice to intervene on behalf of poor?” In Malachi 3:13 “You have spoken arrogantly against Me,” says the Lord God. “Yet you ask, ‘What have we said against you?’ 14 “You have said, ‘It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out His requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty? 15 But call the arrogant blessed, as certainly such evildoers prosper, when they put God to the test and seem to get away with it.’”The faithful remnant who 16 fear God talk with each other, and the Lord Listens and Hears. A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who fear the Lord and Honour His Holy Name.17 “On the day God Almighty Acts, “they will be My treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. 18 And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not. In Malachi 31-5 The True God you are seeking will come to His Temple. The messenger of the covenant, you desire, will come,” says God Almighty. 2 But who can endure the day of His coming? Who can stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver to purify and refine like gold and silver. As Jesus is Coming soon and very soon, “God is quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers, perjurers. Against those who defraud labourers of their wages, who oppress widows and the fatherless and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me,” says the Lord God Almighty. All faithful Christian believers are exhorted to set a good example in business investment as rich employers of people. To be wise and use Godly ethical business principles not to aggressively use harsh guerilla tactics, severe austerity measures to bully and extort wealth. To ensure the environment is not destroyed irreversibly at the expense of greed. Those who find themselves at the brunt of rich oppressors must exercise patience under trials and sufferings according to James 5:7-11. The sin of complaining against God or swearing is cautioned against in James 5:12. We are directed on how to act, both under affliction and in prosperity, James 5:13. Prayer for the sick, and anointing with oil, are prescribed, James 5:14, 15. Christians are directed to acknowledge their faults one to another, and to pray one for another, and the efficacy of prayer is proved, James 5:16-18. Christian believers are commended to do all they can to bring back those that stray from God’s ways of truth.
