Many people strongly believe a Loving God will not send good people to hell. Some wonder if hell is real, tend to dismiss or water down Bible teaching on hell. Others think hell exists for extremely evil people so do not think hell concerns them. In Bible hell is described as the real place of eternal torment, punishment, afterlife, fiery destination. The punishment in hell corresponds to sins committed in a person’s life time so damned souls suffer for sins committed in general with condemned sinners in long term suffering without relief. In Christianity hell is depicted as a fiery, painful, place of torment to inflict guilty suffering for ever and ever. Most Gospel messages warning about hell is stereotyped as doom anfd gloom fire and brimstone that puts fear in people who prefer to enjoy church, have fun and be entertained. Yet consider why a Loving God will send His Son to save mankind if it was not a serious matter. In John 3:16, For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world will be saved through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. In Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Revelation 21:8, the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, all liars portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. In Revelation 20:1, if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life he was thrown into the lake of fire with the demons who tormented those dwelling there with the devil. In Matthew 25:46, wicked people to eternal punishment, but the righteous go into eternal life in heaven.” In Matthew 10:28, do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. In Daniel 12:2, many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
The Christian doctrine of hell derives from teaching of the New Testament described using the Greek words Tartarus or Hades or the Hebrew word Gehenna. In the Septuagint and New Testament the authors used the Greek term Hades for the Hebrew Sheol. Both Jewish and Greek concepts show activity of torture rather opportunity to accomplish dream missed in life in Hades in Ecclesiastes 9:10. So whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going. Christians believe the souls of those who die rest peacefully in heaven but the afflicted are damned after death and after the resurrection. In Hebrew hell is called Sheol, Ge Hinom. In Greek its called Hades 11 times in New Testament, Gehenna 12 times, tartaro’o 11 times, in Septuagint Hades or Ennom 11 times in New Testament. In Vulgate infernus and hell or hades in modern versions of the Bible. The 3 terms hades, sheol the place of the dead” or “grave.”The righteous are saved but the wicked end up there. Gehenna is valley of Hinnom garbage dump outside Jerusalem where people burned garbage with fire burning there. So the bodies of the dead in sin thrown there to be destroyed. Gehenna is used in the New Testament as the real image metaphor for final place of punishment for the wicked after the resurrection. In Tartaro the dead thrown to Tartarus in II Peter 2:4, and in 1 Enoch for incarceration of the fallen angels and human souls sent there in the afterlife. In Mark 9:43-48, if your hand causes you to sin cut it off. It is better to enter heavenly life crippled than with 2 hands to go to hell in unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ In Revelation 20:14 the dead in Hades are thrown into the lake of fire which is the second death, the lake of fire. In Matthew 13:50, the dead are thrown into the fiery furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The Son of Man will send his angels to gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers and throw them into fiery furnace of weeping and gnashing of teeth.
In 2 Thessalonians 1:9, they will suffer punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord God and from the glory of His Might. In Revelation 20:10, the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. In Revelation 14:11, the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest, day or night, the worshippers of the beast and its image and whoever receives the mark of its name.” In Matthew 5:22, I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council and whoever says, ‘you fool will be liable to the hell of fire. In Psalm 145:20, the Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. In Hebrews 10:26-31, if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgement and a fury of fire will consume the adversaries of God. Anyone who set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy or evidence of 2 or 3 witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, The Lord will judge his people.” In Mark 9:48, in hell their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ In Luke 16:19-31, “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. The dogs licked his sores so the poor man died and was carried by angels to Abraham’s side in heaven. The rich man died and was buried in Hades in torment so lifted his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side begged to be given water drops to quench his tongue. Abraham said it is too late to save him. In Luke 12:5, I warn you to fear God who after He kills has Authority to cast into hell, yes, I tell you, fear him. In 2 Peter 2:4, if God did not spare angels when they sinned but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness so will people be judged by God those who rebel like angels. In Matthew 23:33, those like serpents and brood of vipers will not escape being sentenced to hell. In Roman’s 2:21-22, those who teach others can also end in hell as false prophets. In 2 Peter 2:17, evil people are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm for them God’s gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. In Revelation 20:13-15, the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
In Acts 2:27, For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. In John 5:29, come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgement. In Matthew 16:26-27, For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? The Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of His Father and will repay each person according to what he has done. In Matthew 7:13, enter by the narrow gate for the gate is wide and easy that leads to destruction and those who enter by it are many. In Psalm 37:9-11, for the evildoers shall be cut off but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. In a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace. In Matthew 24:51, so will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. In Matthew 5:30, if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell. In Matthew 3:12, His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” In Isaiah 59:2, your iniquities made a separation between you and your God and your sins have hidden his face from you so he does not hear. In Revelation 20:13, the sea gave up the dead in it, death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. In Revelation 20:6, blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection. The second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and they will reign with him for a thousand years. In Hebrews 9:27, and just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgement. In John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. In Ezekiel 18:4, Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.In Hebrews 6:4-8, it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned. In Matthew 13:49-50, it will be at the close of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous and throw them into fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. In Job 34:10, hear me, you men of understanding: far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong. In Revelation 14:10, he will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. In Revelation 2:11, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’ In Ezekiel 28:19, all who know you among the people are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.” In Romans for while we were still weak sinners Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person so God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. So justified by Jesus blood, saved by Him from wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. In Acts 2:31, David foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades nor did his flesh see corruption. In Luke 3:17, the winnowing fork is in Jesus’s Hands to clear His threshing floor and gather the wheat into His barn, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire. In Ecclesiastes 9:5, the living know they will die but the dead know nothing so have no reward for the memory of them is forgotten. In Psalm 86:13 great is God’s Steadfast love for He delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. In Psalm 49:15 God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for God will receive my soul into heaven. Selah. In Psalm 16:10, For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. In Job 14:13, hide me in Sheol, conceal me until your wrath be past set time and remember me. In Psalm 115:17, the dead flesh does not praise God in silence in the grave. In Psalm 68:2, as smoke is driven away so God drives them away as wax melts before fire so the wicked shall perish before God in hell fire. In Revelation 1:18, the living one died, and behold alive forever more so has keys of death and Hades. In 1 Corinthians 15:13-18, if there is no resurrection of the dead then Christ was not raised from death. And if Christ has not been raised then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are do not misrepresent God, because we testify about God that He raised Christ, so it is true the dead are raised.
In Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. In 2 Timothy 4:1, I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead and by his appearing and his kingdom will be established on earth in Jerusalem. In Luke 16:1-31, Jesus said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you on account of your management for you can no longer be manager.’ The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’ So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master? And the unjust steward used and abused riches so 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. Although not trusted with true riches, smart in business. In John 3:13, no one ascended into heaven by themselves except Jesus alone Who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. In Hebrews 2:14 since the children share in flesh and blood, Jesus partook of the same things through death He destroyed the one who had the power of death called the devil. In John 8:44, you are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. In Isaiah 38:18, Sheol does not thank God death does not praise God; those who go down to the pit do not hope for God’s faithfulness. In Isaiah 34:7, wild oxen shall fall with them and young steers with the mighty bulls. Their land shall drink its fill of blood, and their soil shall be gorged with the fat of their destruction. In Isaiah 14:15-17, the devil is brought to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit. Those who see it will stare at and ponder is this the one who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, who made the world like a desert and overthrew its cities, who did not let his prisoners go home?’ In Revelation 20:12-13, I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. In Isaiah 8:20, to teach God’s Testimony by speaking according to God’s word or else perish. In Job 21:13, some spend their days in prosperity and peace at the expense of others so they will go down to Sheol. In 1 John 5:16, If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life to those who commit sins that do not lead to death.
There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. In Luke 10:15, you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven, you shall be brought down to Hades. In Isaiah 5:14, Sheol enlarged its appetite and opened its mouth beyond measure, and the nobility of Jerusalem and her multitude will go down, her revellers and he who exults in her. In Ecclesiastes 9:6, their love and their hate and their envy have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun. In Ruth 1:1, in the days when judges ruled there was a famine in the land, and a man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. After death Ruth helped Naomi so blessed by Boaz, 12 May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.” In Revelation 3:20, behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me so he will have eternal life. In 2 Peter 3:4, They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” In Acts 24:15, these men accept, there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. In Luke 12:47-48, the servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. All to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. In Matthew 23:15, woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites for you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves. In Ezekiel 18:20 the soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. In Isaiah 14:22-30, “I will rise up against them,” declares the Lord of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and remnant, descendants and posterity,” declares the Lord. “And I will make it a possession of the hedgehog, and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord of hosts. The Lord of hosts has sworn: “As I planned, so shall it be, as I purposed, so shall it stand, that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains trample him underfoot; and his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden from their shoulder.” This is the purpose concerning the whole earth, and this is the hand stretched out over all the nations. In 2 Samuel 22:5-6 when the waves of death encompassed me, torrents of destruction assailed me, cords of Sheol entangled me, snares of death confronted me, God saved my soul from hell in Jesus Name. God saves all those who accept Christ into heaven.
